1. TO KEEP UP
You can’t solve tomorrow’s issues with yesterday’s strategies. An experienced Coach helps you develop the capacity to handle the increased complexity of your world.

2. TIME
The Coach is trained to help you identify what’s important now and in the future as you create business results. Leveraging your time is critical. Short, focused coaching sessions move you forward quickly.

3. AWARENESS and BLINDSPOTS
A good Coach helps you develop your awareness – awareness of your mental models, or how you make sense of your world – and awareness of the impact of your words and actions on others. Your blind spots (and we all have them) can be fatal in business. A coach can help you understand perspectives you may not have considered. You can’t move beyond your biases if you don’t recognize them. Increased awareness is critical to executive and leadership development.

4. BALANCE
The pressures of juggling work/life balance are always present. Quality coaching naturally facilitates your choices in establishing the level of balance you want.

5. COMMUNICATION
Your effectiveness in getting your message across and being able to draw the information you need from others and your team is critical to your success. A Coach can help you develop your competence in communication, listening skills, presenting your ideas, managing meetings and people. What you say and how you say it can be greatly enhanced with the clarity that comes from working with a Coach.

6. PURPOSE
Without clarity of Purpose, individuals and organization have no foundation on which to build or expand their networks. Clarity of purpose makes explicit the reasons for being and motives for action. Clear purpose allows others to align their efforts in support of organizational purpose.

7. CONGRUENCE
We are all looking for congruence in our leaders and associates. A Coach help you to BE congruent and live in alignment as you walk your talk. Congruence comes out of developing your awareness of the impact you have on others. Coaching to align identity, intention and action helps establish congruence, a byproduct of which is others’ confidence in you as a leader.

8. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Studies show Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is more important than IQ in an Executive, leader, business owner and manager. A Coach helps you understand and develop higher levels of emotional intelligence.

9. A DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Having a personal and professional development plan can act as your guide to increase your capacity and competence to lead. With a map, a plan and a coach, the chances for reaching your goals will be much stronger.

10. THE COACH SPACE — CONFIDENTIAL, SECURE, SAFE
Many leaders and business people say they do not have any place where they can test, explore, discuss and receive push-back on issues critical to their growth and success. The coaching conversation is about all the points above and hinges on the right environment of confidentiality, safety and openness. This is The Coach Space. It is the space where clarity, insight, growth and development happen.

QUESTION YOUR BUSINESS AND LIFE
Pick an activity or project you are doing. What are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats? SWOT it!

COACH’S TIP
Any time you approach a new project or new ideas, SWOT it. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Take a piece of paper and make 2 columns with a horizontal line through the middle. Put the 4 SWOT titles on each quadrant and brainstorm these topics for your new projects.

These help one to have a balanced perspective on the project.

INSPIRATION
A man carries his success or his failure with him… it does not depend on outside conditions.” – Ralph Waldo Trine

Work on business versus work in business
This is Michael Gerber’s distinction (from The E-Myth). Basically, it means that entrepreneurs are wise to not just work in their business, but that the real money and success comes from working on their business. They’re working in their business when they’re thinking like an employee, doing tasks that they can do but that others should be doing, being busy bees, working really hard, etc. They’re working on their business when they orchestrate the work of others, or when they step back (frequently, perhaps weekly) and get yet another helicopter view of where they’re heading and what else they should be noticing. Of course, some entrepreneurs work so much on their business that they never make it successful because they’re not in the trenches, which is often where the fun and enlightening stuff happens. Entrepreneurs need to work both on and in their business, but better on the side of on.

Reserves versus fully invested
Entrepreneurs tend to invest all they have into their ventures – money, time, energy, love, intellect, and people. They do this because they believe in their project so much that they want to marshal all possible resources and make it happen immediately. The trick when coaching an entrepreneur is to help them strengthen the usually atrophied muscle called “reserves”. The objective is for the entrepreneur to put only 20% or 70% of their resources into the current venture, deliberately holding back the rest because, entrepreneurs being entrepreneurs, it will surely be needed soon. Exercising this restraint is also a good discipline builder – it forces the entrepreneur to do more with less. The ultimate reward for understanding this distinction is that the entrepreneur operates from a place of reserves versus always being at the edge, fully invested. This is often a big change and not all entrepreneurs have an interest in doing it the easy way – they love the risk; it motivates them.

Lone ranger versus supported
A lone ranger is an entrepreneur who says things like: “No, that’s OK, I can handle it.” “No one can do it as well as I can do it.” “I appreciate the offer, but I’ll let you know if I need that.” The lone ranger has yet to learn the social skill of both including and leaning on others. This skill is important to learn because as more businesses become co-sourced (e.g. collaborative outsourcing), and the world becomes more connected, the synergy that comes from working together is what ends up being a key competitive advantage. Without it, business may slow down. That, plus it’s a lot more fun to be supported, like via a coach, than to have to push or rely only on oneself.

Responsible versus working hard
The Protestant ethic was “working hard equals being responsible”, “idleness is the devil’s workshop”. As we all become knowledge workers, we need to understand that our ability to think, create and attract relies on more than just effort or physical exertion. Often, being on vacation means you are truly working at your best; the ideas that occur while on vacation are usually the finest and most rewarding ones. The key is to understand that sometimes being the most responsible occurs when one is not working as hard as possible.

Vision versus goal
A vision is seen as possiblilty for others/the world. A goal is something that one sets out to achieve, either for oneself or others. A goal is about the person and accomplishing it. A vision is simply that – it often occurs versus being created. A vision pulls; usually one pushes oneself to reach a goal. A goal is usually something that’s an expression of ego. Both visions and goals are great. But if you work with your clients to clearly articulate their vision, the goals will create themselves and no one will need to do any pushing.

Pipeline of business versus pools
A pipeline of business (repeat or cross-sales) is usually more profitable than a pool of business (onetime sales). Think about the disposable razor. That’s a pipeline of business. The old strap razor or straightedge razor was a pool of business. Pipelines are often more fun and provide more of a consistent stream of income than do one-time sales.

Present versus future
Entrepreneurs often live in the future – the next idea, the next business, the next deal, and the next sale. This is good. However, if you can get them to be a bit more in the present, they’ll find more profit there than in the future: when and if the entrepreneur truly can hear what current customers are saying or not saying, they can easily create or improve products or services that will sell well immediately rather than thinking they have to create yet another something new.

Strategy versus tactics
A strategy is a longer-term approach taken to create an outcome. Tactics are usually shorter-term and fit “under” the strategy. For example, building a strong, positive reputation is a strategy that a newer coach may consider as a wise way to fill their practice. A list of 10 ways to increase one’s reputation means you now have a series of shorter term, immediately do-able goals or steps helping to implement the strategy. Both strategy and tactics are important to have. Usually entrepreneurs are strong on tactics and weak on strategy. Written plan versus mental plan The plan becomes clearer during the process of writing it down. Entrepreneurs often prefer mental plans, but as a coach you can do a great service by setting up a two to three hour special session where the job of the entrepreneur is to talk and create their plan and yours is to write down the highlights and help the client clearly articulate their strategy and tactics. The plan will often change in 24 hours, but it will usually change for the better because they have taken the time to talk it through.

Structure versus momentum
Structure is what you can provide for your clients – the weekly check in, the support when needed, the phone call, the reminder of goals, and the accountability when needed. Often, structure causes, accelerates and maintains momentum. Without structure, momentum often wanes, due to the law of entropy. The Coach, being one of the entrepreneur’s structures of success, is important because it helps keep them and their momentum going (although they rarely see this).

Project planning is a powerful process for achieving both personal and professional goals.

The process of goal-setting helps you choose where you want to go in work and in life and project planning is how you are going to get there. By know exactly what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. You’ll also quickly spot the distractions that would otherwise lure you from your desired outcome.

More importantly than this, proper goal-setting and project planning can be incredibly motivating, and as you get into the habit of setting and achieving goals, you’ll find your self-confidence builds fast.

Start to Achieve Your Lifetime Goals Now and Begin Your Project Plan!

Are you following the advice of business and marketing experts to grow your business and still not getting the results you desire? Well you may want to step back and take a look at the bigger picture. We are currently going through a major shift in consciousness and it is having a huge impact on how best practices will ultimately change the way you are doing business in a dramatic way.

It seems to me that we are coming to the end of an era that is predominately influenced by what I call masculine energy and entering a new era where feminine energy is having her way with us. Trust me this will continue to impact the way we do business for the rest of our lives.

Please share your comments or thoughts below!

Thanks,

Email marketing can be profitable for any business, no matter what kind of product or service you offer. It is significantly cheaper than other advertising methods and, if done right, helps build loyalty and trust with customers. As a result, you generate more sales and more profits!

The foundation for successful email marketing is a targeted, permission-based email list. Marketers call contact lists their “goldmine” because it can generate much of their sales revenue. If you’ve built up a list of opt-in subscribers that are qualified and interested in what you have to offer, then you’ve completed the first step and are on your way. Now it’s time to “mine” for gold!

Below you’ll find several list-building and retention ideas that will help you get the best results from all your email marketing activities:

Provide useful, relevant content. Your visitors will not give you their email addresses just because they can subscribe to your newsletter free of charge. You have to provide unique and valuable information that will be of interest or use to them.

Add a subscription form to every page on your website. Make sure it stands out so it is easy to find. If it doesn’t look cluttered, you may want to include more than one on some pages. For instance, if your opt-in form always appears in the top-left corner of your site, you may want to add one at the end of your most popular articles.

Add subscription forms to your social media pages. Make sure that you don’t waste this valuable source of revenue opportunities. Integrate your sign-up forms with Facebook and more!

Make it easy for readers to sign up. The more information you request, the fewer people will opt-in. In most cases, a name and an email address should suffice. If it’s not necessary, don’t include it here. You can always survey them once they’re customers! We do recommend that you provide a link to your Privacy Policy however.

Publish a Privacy Policy. Let your readers know that they can be confident you will not share their information with others. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Privacy Policy web page and provide the link to it below your opt-in form. (Note: If you don’t have one, put the words “privacy policy generator” into a search engine and you should be able to find a suitable form to use.)

Provide samples of your newsletters and Ezines. This lets potential subscribers review your materials before they sign up to determine if it’s something they’d be interested in.

Archive past newsletters and articles. An online library of past newsletters and articles is both appealing and useful to visitors and builds your credibility as an authority. In addition, if your articles are written with good SEO techniques in mind, they can increase traffic to your website through enhanced search engine positioning.

Give gifts subscribers can actually use. Offer an opt-in bonus for joining your subscriber list! Write an ebook or provide a PDF business report, or even hire a programmer to create downloadable or web-based software. But don’t limit yourself to offering gifts to opt-ins. Give them out when your readers fill out a survey, provide a testimonial, success story, or a great product idea. Let them know when they can expect the next gift offer. Everyone likes to get something for free! And if you pass out “goodies” throughout the year, your subscribers will feel truly appreciated − and that’s good for business!

Ask your subscribers to pass it on. Word of mouth is a powerful viral technique that works great with email marketing. If your subscribers find your content interesting, amusing or informative, they’ll probably share it with their friends. This can be a great source of new customers, so make sure to remind them to “pass it on”.

Let others reprint your newsletter as long as the content is not modified. If you’re happy to share your content with the universe, then why not! Many webmasters and newsletter publishers are actively looking for high-quality content and, if they reprint your newsletter, you’ll get new subscribers, and more traffic and links pointing to your site.

Include a “Sign Up” button in your newsletter. If you’re using plain text instead of HTML, be sure to provide a text link to your subscription page. You may feel that this is not required because the subscriber is already on your list, but remember that readers will forward your newsletters to others, or reprint them online. Make it easy for them to subscribe!

Add a squeeze page. A squeeze page has one goal − to acquire opt-ins and build your list. Think of it as a mini-sales letter to go along with your subscription or opt-in gift. It should feature a strong headline and a couple of powerful benefits that should make subscribers salivate to sign up! Once created, use a service such as WordTracker to find hundreds of targeted keywords, and promote your offer using pay-per-click advertising from Google, MSN and Yahoo. Now that should make a splash!

Include testimonials on your squeeze page. This is crucial. Put one or two strong testimonials from satisfied customers on your squeeze page. This can be in any format, but you may find that multimedia (audio or video) is more “believable” and inspires more people to action. To further enhance believability, get permission to use actual customer names, locations and/or urls (Don’t use “Bob K, FL”). Add a note inviting others to participate. After all, it’s free publicity!

Blogging is a great way to communicate with prospects and potential customers, and creates a nice synergy with your email marketing. Post thoughtful comments and information on similar blogs with a link to your squeeze or opt-in pages. Also comment on others’ blogs through trackbacks. In most cases, your comments will be posted on their blogs with a link back to your site. This is an easy way to generate new traffic and subscribers, and get your brand out there!

You can be notified about any information moving around on the web. For example I have Google Alerts set for my name Greg Clowminzer and it tells me if there is anything on the web being posted with my name in it.

I was alerted that a past client of mine was talking about their experience of something we talked about years ago. What I had shared with him was about establishing boundaries and fully communicating what is arising for you in your relation to others. Along with a series of steps to help with the practice of communicating what IS and IS not OK in to say or do in your personal space.

Do You Know How to Keep Your Anger From
Being Destructive in These Four Easy Steps?

By James Oates

This is a short article, with the intention of sharing some information that was taught to me a number of years ago by one of my early mentors, Greg Clowminzer. When I was younger, by a decade or two, my anger was a fairly constant companion, primarily because I would let the anger bottle-up inside until something would happen that would cause the bottle to pop. I did not know how to communicate my displeasure with someone else’s behavior in a compassionate and supportive manner. I was taught this simple process, which will teach others what your boundaries are. This process also presumes that you want to maintain the relationship with the person that you are speaking with. If they do some something that will not allow you to maintain the relationship, then this process is moot.

As I share these steps, it is important to keep in mind, that these steps are not taken in anger. You may be experiencing some anger in the moment, and, it is important to take a breath, and communicate openly and without destructive energy. So, let’s get started…

Step 1 – “I would like to inform you that what you just said (or did) caused me to feel angry.” Sometimes our relationships do not even know that what they just said or did angered you. Be compassionate and let them know by informing them of it. Many times they will let you know that they were not aware that their behavior had that impact on you. Just let them know.

Step 2 – If this person whom you have previously informed about your boundary in step 1, says or does the same thing again, after you have informed them, there is no need to erupt upon them, simply say this…”Do you recall when I informed you that what you were saying (or did) caused me to feel anger? Well, you just did it again. Now I am going to specifically request that you not say (or do) that again when you and I are together.” Now you have informed them in step 1 and requested that they stop in step 2, so you have raised the level of boundary slightly.

Step 3 – If they do the behavior again, you raise the level of boundary a bit more by saying, “Do you recall that I have informed you that when you say (or do) what you just said (or did), that it causes me to feel anger? Do you also recall that I requested that you not do that behavior when we are together? Well, now, since you are continuing to violate that boundary, I am demanding of you, that if you wish to maintain our relationship, you never say (or do) that behavior again in my presence. If you continue to violate that boundary, I will take action regarding our relationship.”

Step 4 – If they continue to violate this boundary, after you have informed them about it, requested that they stop, demanded that they stop, and then let them know that if they continue to violate it, you will take action regarding your relationship, then you have a choice to make regarding whether you want to maintain this relationship or not.

So, there you have it. This is a simple process to help educate your relationships regarding your boundaries, and, you will ultimately create relationships that respect you and your boundaries. The first time that you use this process with your relationships, you may feel a bit uncomfortable with it. It is a skill set like any other, so with a bit of practice, it will pay dividends.
